Bye Bye, Tigers by Alexander Dippel
This week, Michigan sports struggled. Our Detroit Lions had a rough time against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Detroit Red Wings had a rocky first game, and unfortunately, the Tigers were eliminated from the playoffs this year.
The Detroit Lions have had a… questionable start to their season. They are currently 4 and 2, losing to the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field, as well as Kansas City, also away at the Arrowhead, with both of these fields tough to play away, with even tougher teams. The Lions have defeated the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, and the Cincinnati Bengals, and the Baltimore Ravens. In other NFL news, the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the New York Giants, a huge upset, considering that the New York Giants aren’t exactly playoff contenders, according to analysts.
Hockey has started recently, and the Detroit Red Wings have gotten off to a very, very good start, with an early first loss, but bouncing back to a now Five and One record! This could mean they could be a very dangerous adversary in the playoffs, especially for the defending champs, the Florida Panthers, later on, but it is too early in the season to tell. Also, this puts the Detroit Red Wings at the top of the Atlantic Division, which consists of; Detroit Red Wings, the Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leaves, the Bruins, and yes, the Florida Panthers, who are strangely only Three and Four. The only teams that have one five games as of this Article are the Detroit Red Wings, the Colorado Avalanche, and the Hurricanes.
Our Tigers had a very strong start to the season, leading the league by almost 20 wins! But all good things must come to an end, and had a massive losing streak, to where they were questionable for playoff contention. After making it, they had to play the Cleveland Guardians. After winning a sudden death game three, they moved on to play the Seattle Mariners, and after an excruciating 15 innings, our beloved Tigers lost on a walk-on homer.
